After removing the top plate of the light switch, you'll see that there are a few other screws that inside the light switch. These are the screws that are holding the light switch in place on the wall.

Expose the wires of the light switch by gently pulling the light switch off the wall without pulling it all out altogether. You're only required to pull it enough to reveal the wires of the light switch.
