Prevent Mobile Phone Spam
Register your phone with the National Do Not Call Registry to avoid receiving unwanted telemarketing calls at home.
Have you ever been disrupted by a call from a telemarketer when you are reading a book, watching TV or late in the night when you are sleeping?
When yes, you’re not alone.
Your first step to prevent this harassment is to register your mobile phone number with the FCC's Do-Not-Call Registry.
When you've registered callers may only call you when they
- do not call commercially or do not include unsolicited advertisements,
- have established a business relationship with you,
- do not call commercially or do not include unsolicited advertisements.
Consumers may register their residential and cellular telephone, by Internet or by telephone at no cost.
In addition to the Do-Not-Call Registry the caller-id may also reduce the number of spam calls to your home.
With the caller-id you should know when a telemarketer is calling you: they have to transmit caller-id and do not allowed to block their numbers.
When you register your phone number with the FCC unsolicited telephone calls to your home before 8 am or after 9 pm are not allowed.
Callers have to provide you with these additional information which will also reduced spam calls to your home:
- Anyone making a telephone solicitation call to your home must provide his/her name.
- A telephone number or address at which you may contact that entity.
- The Caller also have to give you the name of the entity on whose behalf the call is being made.
You can register your phone number at no cost. Your phone number will remain for five years on the national do-not-call list. You may re-enter your number when the five years have passed, and you may remove your phone number from the list at any time.
